Suspension

Mr. Little Man goes to a school for autistic children. It's really great for him and he has made alot of progress there. This is not a full day program so after lunch he goes to a different school (that also has an after school program). The purpose of this is so that he can socialize with typically developing children and learn to mimic their behavior. Again, it's a great program and he has made lots of improvement since starting there. I've mentioned all of this here before, right? No?

Last Wednesday I get a call from the director asking me if I could come by because they are having some problems with Mr. Little Man. Long story short I get there and the director tells me that Mr. Little Man has been biting people. Here is how it all went down:

Me: Did you bite somebody?
Mr. Little Man: (via sign language) I bit 2 people.
Director: Actually, he bit 3 people.

The school does realize that something must have set him off because in the director's own words "under normal circumstances he is the most affectionate child." Either way, he was suspended for 2 days. I tried so hard not to have 2 really fun days with him because I do not want this to turn into a pattern where he bites people just so that I'll take him to the Zoo.

Also, there is no greater reality check than having your 4 year old suspended.

What I am reading: 2 weeks ago was banned book week (who knew such a thing even existed?), so now I am trying to read Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn. WHOA, Henry Miller!
What I am listening to: The Scissor Sisters - She's My Man
